How to Create a Landing Page for Lead Generation
Your landing page has one job: It must capture attention and turn a visitor into a lead.
As they say, you get one chance to make a first impression, and landing pages are no exception. The landing page is one of the most important things to get right because it's the first thing visitors will see after they click on your ad or search result. You only have a few seconds to capture someone's attention; if not, it's failing as a successful landing page.
Don't forget SEO best practices for your landing page. The main focus will be on your meta title (headline), the meta description (copy), as well as the content of your web page. For ads, your focus will be on your headline, copy, CTA (Call to Action), image/video, and the content of your landing page.
Best practices ensure you create a great landing page to get the most out of your SEO strategy and advertising efforts in order to generate more leads. Let's look at them:
Design: Aim for a clean and simple design to reduce distraction and keep your visitor focused on the offer. Make sure it ties in with the visual branding you used in a paid ad or page where someone has clicked to reach your landing page.
Headline: Remember that a person's attention span doesn't last very long; your headline needs to pull them in since it's the first thing they see. Make sure your headline aligns with the problem the reader suffers from and draw them into reading the rest of the content.
Images / Video: Using images and/or video on your landing page is a great idea. These can engage your reader and encourage them to read further down your page. Video is a perfect opportunity to present an offer in an easily consumed format to your reader. It also allows you to convey more information than you can with an image.
Copy: The last thing you want to do is overwhelm your visitor with overly complicated copy. Keep the copy easy to follow and use a conversational tone to let them know they're in the right place to get help.
Opt-in Form: If you're collecting newsletter subscriptions or promoting a free offer on your landing page, ensure your form is easy to use. Keep it simple and try not to use more than a couple of fields on your form because you don't want your visitor to feel like they need to do extra work.
Social Proof: Use testimonials, reviews, and endorsements to establish trust for your company on your landing page.
CTA (Call to Action): The CTA on your page should be visible and actionable to your reader. What do you want the reader to do? Sign up to receive a free guide or make a purchase. Make the next step as easy as possible for your visitor to take.
