Each month, Jason Hunter Design likes to provide a topic that’s both informative and educational to our readers. We always seek to provide the highest possible value to our clients, and this month, we also want our topic to be sensitive to current events. So we asked ourselves, “How can we create content that will be informative, optimistic, and helpful to our audience amidst the news of COVID-19?”
Our answer was to highlight the ways in which entrepreneurs and small business owners can make awesome use of this mandated “downtime.”
Do you feel you’ve been presented an opportunity to focus on tasks that have fallen behind, due to your change in day-do-day operations? Are you auditing your business to see where you can refine your processes to run seamlessly upon your return? How are you elevating your productivity, when your days look drastically different as you isolate, practice social distancing, or quarantine yourself?
We’ve come up with our Top 3 Suggestions to capitalize on current challenges:
- Minimize your expenses. You may find there are ways to cut your costs by re-evaluating outsourcing needs, and temporarily reclaiming administrative tasks you have previously assigned to external resources. These tasks might include bookkeeping, incoming calls, and handling all correspondence. You might also find software subscriptions and/or services you can temporarily suspend until your office is operating at full speed again.
- Refine your skills. If you’re working more from home and less from the office, there are likely some operational tasks that aren’t on your to-do list these days. If you’ve suddenly found chunks of time opening up throughout your week, why not allocate it to learning a new skillset? There are so many relevant (and free) courses on sites like Coursera and edX.org that have college-level assignments to take your performance to new heights as you prepare for your return!
- Restructure your engagement strategy. These days, it’s not likely you’re attending any networking meetings or Chamber of Commerce events. That’s ok! There are still many ways to connect with past, current, and future clients- it just takes a fresh, new focus during this time. Right now, we’re all finding ourselves aching for connection to the outside world as we isolate in support of more fragile populations. Social media serves as a great buffer when loneliness attacks (for both us, and our clients). It’s the perfect time for your company to creatively strengthen its connections by ramping up engagement on its most effective platforms. You can even play with targeted ads, reminding everyone that you’ll be there to serve them when the dust settles.

Country Gardens Farm brings forth fresh, natural products from over 150 acres of farmland. The Cunninghams provide free-range eggs, grass-fed beef, raw milk, and a 10-week long community supported agriculture program to Coweta County and surrounding areas. Mike and Judy are passionate about teaching members of the community how to grow, cook, and preserve foods with The Teaching Garden. They also speak publicly on a variety of topics like fermenting vegetables for gut health, growing and preparing herbal teas at home, and creating “no-dig” vegetable gardens!
3 Bros Cookies
3 Bros Cookies is a family-owned and operated business that seeks to combine an authentic Dutch stroopwafel recipe with fresh, wholesome, and local ingredients. You can find these delicious stroopwafels at the Peachtree City Farmer’s Market or order them directly from their website.
Adventure Ted
In November 2019, the first book in the series Adventure Ted: Night at the Enchanted Themepark released. Overarching themes of courage, bravery, and handling the ups and downs of life are sprinkled all through these children’s books, while proceeds from their sales are donated to Childhood Cancer Society’s Wish Granted Budget.
