There are now more voice-enabled assistants in use around the world than there are people. Those 8.4 billion assistants tell us that consumers aren’t just typing into search bars anymore. They’re speaking out loud to their phones, smart speakers, watches, even their cars. Today, one in five searches in the Google App is spoken instead of typed. Atop that, voice commerce is expected to hit $164 billion globally by the end of 2025. People are placing orders, finding services, and booking appointments, all by voice. Humans communicate by speaking first and writing later. Search engines evolved in reverse.
